TRANSLATIONS

Although born in Singapore, I wouldn’t call myself a fluent native speaker of Chinese in any respect. Armed with just the basics of the language at the age of 12, I moved back to Australia determined to rediscover my mother tongue through nothing but my passion for Chinese music and Google translate. Shameful, I know. But now effectively bilingual, being able to speak, read and even teach Chinese is one of my greatest achievements, made even more so by the fact that it was achieved through independent learning. Starting off at first with lyric translations on Asian Pop Weekly in 2013, I graduated to translating interviews and articles, all with the aim of filling the gaps in a westerner’s knowledge of Chinese music.
